UK Public Premier of the Joost van der Westhuizen Story

Book Tickets Here:

Springbok legend Joost van der Westhuizen will be visiting Milton Keynes during the rugby world cup to premier Glory Game (12A) a movie chronicling his battle with Motor Neuron Diseases (MND).

PJ Care and MK Dons SET will be hosting the premier at The Odeon, Stadium MK on Tuesday 20th October.

Joost will be guest of honour at the premier and will conduct a Q & A session along with director, Odette Schwegler at the end of the screening.

Joost, along with Gareth Edwards is widely regarded as the world’s greatest scrum-half. Joost became a national hero in South Africa when he played a key in the Springboks' 1995 World Cup triumph in South Africa, fearlessly tackling All Black Giant Jonah Lomu bringing him to a to a standstill time after time.

The rugby world reeled in shock in April 2011 when the news broke that Joost had been diagnosed with MND. The disease attacks the central nervous system, causing progressive disability. There is no known cure. The prognosis is death.

Odette describes the film as "A compelling tale of redemption set against the backdrop of rugby glory, ‘Glory Game’ is the story of a modern day warrior forced to face his own human frailty. He shows us that beyond ambition, success and fame lies the true wealth of family and friends, and that within a ravaged body can surge the spirit of a survivor.”

This will be a fantastic opportunity for any Rugby fan to meet a true legend of the sport in Joost and share his journey since being diagnosed with MND. All money raised from this event will go to help fund Joost's on going treatment and care.
